Position Requirements Description Baptist Memorial Hospital–DeSoto is a 339-bed acute care hospital located in Southaven, Mississippi. Their highly skilled and experienced doctors, nurses and staff provide a wide range of health care services, including ancillary, cancer, emergency and surgical, heart, neurology, women’s and children’s services, and more. Baptist DeSoto was the first hospital in DeSoto County to offer open‑heart surgery. The hospital was designated as a Top Performing Hospital by U.S. News & World Report. Case Assignments Regional, Cardiovascular (CV), EP Lab cases Neurology, Orthopedics, Obstetrics, General, Urology Well Pediatric and Pulmonary (bronchoscopy) Gastroenterology (EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP) Interventional Radiology Shifts: 2 weeks on, 1 week off. Position 18 weeks of 7 a.m.–5 p.m. shift or 17.5 weeks of call and 17.5 weeks of day shift. Team Leadership Dr. Jovie Bridgewater, Chief Anesthesiologist. Team Highlights The anesthesia care team approach provides a collaborative work environment where CRNAs, MDs, and the surgical team share strong, respectful relationships—led by inspiring and supportive leadership. The current care team model includes approximately 3 anesthesiologists and 15 CRNAs, who have created a cohesive group. Responsibilities Pre‑anesthesia assessment Obtains and/or verifies patient consent Discusses anesthetic options and risks with the patient Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia Monitoring of the patient’s physiological condition Performance of clinical interventions as needed Assist in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures Requirements M.D./D.O. degree from an accredited college of medicine ECFMG and FLEX certification Completion of an approved residency in anesthesia Currently licensed as a physician in Mississippi Board certification or active board eligibility by the American Board of Anesthesia Location Southaven, Mississippi – a suburban community 14 miles south of downtown Memphis, Tennessee, offering easy access to downtown amenities while maintaining a peaceful, family‑friendly atmosphere.
