Position Summary Scheduler responsibilities include clerical and communication functions in the department/clinic. They schedule patient appointments, provide courteous reception, answer phones, register new patients, file and sort documents, review new patient referrals and authorizations, verify insurance, and manage new patient registration. They act as the primary point of contact, greet and check in patients at the front desk, and maintain accurate appointment details. The Scheduler supports staff by handling benefit plan information, providing eligibility data, and supporting requests for referrals. Essential Duties Acts as the positive 'face' of the Health Center as the main point of contact for participants and families. Supports center operations by greeting and checking in patients, scheduling appointments, and performing front desk functions. Schedules appointments, confirms patient availability, and verifies appointment details with callers for accuracy. Functions as an advocate and liaison for patients and the Health Center continuum of care. Answers telephone calls promptly in a polite, professional manner, and directs calls to other departments as needed. Uses sound judgement in handling calls, especially with upset patients, and escalates when appropriate. Maintains all delegated worklists (tasks) through the electronic medical record. Handles patient requests and questions appropriately. Provides benefit plan and eligibility information to participants, providers, unions, employers, and others. Adheres to the Culinary Health Center and Jayakumar NV PC policies and procedures. Performs duties as a care coordinator when assigned. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Understanding of medical terminology. Ability to interview patients and interface with physicians, nurses and other professional staff. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – required within LA City. If no card upon hire, must obtain within 30 days and renew before expiration.
