Location: 609 SE Kent St, Greenfield, IA , United States We are looking for a PRN Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to support our Emergency Department team as needed. This role offers flexible scheduling and an opportunity to apply clinical expertise while delivering high‑quality emergency care. Essential Functions Elicit a medical history and perform a physical examination with completed documentation within the established time requirements. Assess, diagnose, and treat medical or surgical problems and document findings within the established time requirements. Perform or assist in laboratory and related studies as appropriate for the practice setting. Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, removal of foreign bodies, ear and eye irrigation, and other clinical procedures. Perform office surgical procedures including skin biopsy, mole or wart removal, toenail removal, arthrocentesis, and incision and drainage of abscesses when appropriate. Prenatal and postnatal care, including emergency delivery if needed. Manage orthopedic problems including strains, dislocations, and simple fractures. Perform and screen the results of special medical exams such as electrocardiogram, Holter monitoring, radiography, audiometric and vision screening, tonometry, and pulmonary function tests. Instruct and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health, diets, disease management, therapy, and normal growth and development. When deemed appropriate by Medical Staff and Hospital Administration, independently admit patients, perform medical histories and physical exams, make patient rounds, record progress notes, and maintain other clinical records in consultation with a collaborating physician. Refer patients to appropriate specialty and subspecialty providers as indicated by the patient’s problems. Implement immediate evaluation, treatment, and procedures essential to responding to emergency medical problems. Order lab and x‑ray studies independently; refer to or order physical, speech, and occupational therapy. Communicate, coordinate, and cooperate with nursing and administrative staff on patient issues concerning referrals, transfers, Medicare/Medicaid, and other programs requiring specific documentation. Prescribe, supply, and administer drugs and medical devices in all settings, including hospitals, health facilities, clinics, and outpatient settings. Conform to delineated privileges granted by the medical staff credentialing process. Complete all documentation and medical record requirements within prescribed time limits set by hospital or medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations. Conduct and complete hospital‑sponsored employee physical examinations. Notify the provider of admission when admitting a patient to ACMH. Serve as a mandatory reporter. Maintain patient confidentiality and use discretion in patient interactions. Requirements Possession of a current registered nurse license in the State of Iowa is mandatory. Possession of current registration in Iowa for an advanced practice role is mandatory. Evidence of current certification by a national professional nursing association approved by the Iowa Board of Nursing is mandatory. CPR certification is mandatory. ACLS and PALS certifications are mandatory. ATLS certification is required to work with patients in the ER. 3–5 years of experience serving under a collaborative practice agreement is desirable.
