Job Title Psychiatrist 1 and/or Psychiatrist 2 (NY HELPS), Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center Location: Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, 1400 Noyes St., Utica, NY 13502 Salary Grade: 38 (From $296,801 to $310,022 Annually) Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Non-competitive Class Working Hours Mon-Fri 40 hours per week. Workday 6 AM – 6 PM. No flextime, overtime, compressed workweek, or telecommuting allowed. Responsibilities Psychiatrists are essential to providing mental health services to the people served by OMH. They provide comprehensive, recovery-oriented psychiatric treatment services built on principles of effective, measurable, and accountable care. As medical doctors, psychiatrists ensure that all services are integrated to promote mental and physical health and recovery. Psychopharmacology is a core component of modern mental health treatment; psychiatrists serve as primary prescribers. Psychiatrists 1 diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide psychiatric care and treatment services to assigned individuals under the direction of a higher-level psychiatrist or physician. Psychiatrists 2 independently diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide psychiatric care and treatment services to assigned individuals; provide clinical supervision and guidance to lower-level psychiatrists, physicians, and/or other medical providers; and may manage care and treatment services for an assigned facility, unit, or program. Minimum Qualifications License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) – for Psychiatrist 1. License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by ABPN – for Psychiatrist 2. For candidates outside or within State Service: eligible under the HELPS program if licensed and ABPN-certified, or under competitive class if one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service. Limited permit option: licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada and meeting other requirements for Psychiatrist 1 or 2, eligible if you possess a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State. Transfer opportunity: Candidates with one year of permanent service as a Psychiatrist 1 or 2, or Psychiatrist (Children and Youth), eligible for lateral transfer.
