Responsibilities Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and detect any ocular abnormalities or diseases. Prescribe and fit corrective lenses or contact lenses based on patients’ visual needs. Diagnose and manage various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries. Educate patients on proper eye care practices, including hygiene, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to ensure coordinated patient care. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient.
