About the Role The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work at Oceanside Family Counseling Center, a stand‑alone mental health facility offering case management, individual therapy, couples counseling, family care, psychological testing, psychiatry, substance use disorder treatment, and medication‑assisted treatment. The position is based at 8851 Center Dr, La Mesa, CA 91942, with clinic hours Monday‑Friday 8:30am‑5:30pm (12:30‑1:30pm lunch). Responsibilities Complete full intake mental health evaluations. Order diagnostic procedures, labs, and medical supplies. Diagnose and treat acute and chronic health/mental health problems. Develop and implement effective care plans based on patient needs. Prescribe and manage medication when appropriate. Make appropriate consultations on specialty areas. Ensure immunizations and medical records are current. Maintain satisfactory peer reviews. Complete all required documentation per departmental standards. Comply with electronic medical record requirements and participate in clinic pool. Meet clinic site and organization needs reliably. Participate in administrative duties, Clinical Outcomes Program, and work toward meeting organizational targets for all metrics. Assess and intervene for urgent and/or emergent mental health problems. Provide nurse practitioner support and consultation to other outpatient clinics. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications At least 2 years of experience in an outpatient mental health setting. Doctorate from an accredited school of medicine. Board certified or board eligible in a primary care field. Current unrestricted license to practice in California or ability to obtain one. DEA license or ability to obtain one. Current American Heart Association health care provider CPR (BLS) or advanced cardiac or trauma life support training. Desired: bilingual in English/Spanish. Experience with underserved, low‑income, or homeless community members preferred. Ability and willingness to travel within San Diego County.
