Job Summary – Correctional Health The Dental Director provides comprehensive dental care services to patients in the Harris County Jail, while also managing administrative responsibilities. This role is approximately 80% clinical and 20% administrative . Administrative duties include: Leading quality assurance programs Developing, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures Establishing dental standards of care and clinical protocols Monitoring performance benchmarks and metrics Clinically, the Dental Director oversees and provides dental care, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered treatment while mentoring and supervising dental staff. Minimum Qualifications Education / Specialized Training / Licensure: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) required Advanced training (GPR, AEGD) preferred Licensed by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners Certified Correctional Healthcare Professional (CCHP) certification to be completed within one (1) year if not held at hire Work Experience: Three (3) years of direct patient care dental services experience Management / Leadership Experience: Two (2) years of experience overseeing dentists and dental assistants Communication Skills: Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact) Exceptional verbal (public speaking) Writing / correspondence and reports Proficiencies: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Analytical Medical terminology Statistical analysis Work Schedule: Weekends, Holidays, Flexible, On Call Why Harris Health?
