The Medical Lab Scientist – Blood Bank (Nights) at Bell Hospital is a full‑time position providing comprehensive laboratory testing for patients with a focus on quality and accuracy. Responsibilities Analyze patient, control, and proficiency testing specimens and record results promptly in accordance with laboratory policy. Calibrate, maintain, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation, completing the required documentation. Complete continuing education and submit appropriate documentation as required. Follow regulatory, accreditation, safety, and hospital standards, policies, and procedures. Instruct, orient, and mentor students, employees, residents, patients, and other healthcare providers as applicable. Maintain an adequate inventory of all supplies. Accurately prepare, label, and store reagents, standards, controls, and specimens for analysis. Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities. Perform phlebotomy and sample collection as applicable. Prepare products in compliance with FDA, cGMP, AABB standards, NRC regulations, and department procedures. Review and correlate results of laboratory tests, recognizing abnormal results and critical values. Verify the accuracy of results and initiate corrective action when indicated. Use and wear personal protective equipment as necessary to perform job duties safely. Perform professional, clinical, or technical competencies specific to the unit or department. Other duties may be assigned as required. Required Education and Experience Bachelor of Science in Biological, Physical, Chemical, or Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology from an accredited institution. High School graduate. Licensure and Certification Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP) within 180 days. Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – American Medical Technologists (AMT) within 180 days. Knowledge Requirements Meets the CLIA requirements for high complexity testing. Job Type Full time.
