Position Overview The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is conducting a national search for Division Head of Diagnostic Imaging. This leader will establish the vision for, guide the development of faculty in, and oversee all operations and functions in the division. The Division of Diagnostic Imaging combines the best elements of a traditional hospital radiology service with those of an academic radiology department and strategically aligns them with the nation’s top cancer center mission areas of clinical care, education, research, and prevention. All faculty, administrative, and classified staff are salaried employees of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. As of March 2026, there are 650 employees: 260 faculty, two administrative professionals, 302 classified staff, and 86 trainees and students. The mission of Diagnostic Imaging is to contribute to the prevention and elimination of cancer through outstanding patient-centered imaging, transformative research, and exceptional education. Responsibilities The Division Head will lead a nationally recognized division and contribute to the prevention and elimination of cancer, transformative research, and exceptional education. The Division Head is responsible for providing leadership and assumes full responsibility for all areas of the division, including direct patient care, basic, translational, and clinical research, faculty development and evaluation, integration of educational programs, finance and budgeting, and departmental strategic planning. The Division Head will also represent the division and institution in local, regional, state, and national matters. Qualifications 10 years of experience post clinical degree M.D. or equivalent degree Board certification by the American Board of Radiology Eligibility for unrestricted Texas medical licensure Demonstration of clinical excellence and performance Administrative experience at a departmental or institutional level Proven track record of successful and independent clinical or translational research and grant or protocol funding Consistent record of contributions to education or training and to mentoring of trainees, faculty, or staff Progressive leadership experience in an academic setting, preferred experience in an oncologic setting Ability to function effectively in a matrix organization characterized by complex intra- and inter-disciplinary relationships Benefits The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center offers excellent benefits, including medical, dental, paid time off, retirement, tuition benefits, educational opportunities, and individual and team recognition.
