The College Counselor plays a vital, mission-driven role in advancing college awareness and access for Cristo Rey Jesuit High School students, while also building meaningful partnerships with local and national 2- and 4-year colleges and universities. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Guide and support students through every stage of the college and financial aid process, in collaboration with the Director of College CounselingDesign and lead engaging college-readiness programming, including presentations, workshops, college fairs, campus visits, and family seminarsBuild strong, sustained relationships with students through individual and group advising on college exploration and selectionUse data thoughtfully to inform advising and support students and families in making college and financial aid decisionsTrack and analyze college and scholarship applications and outcomes using Naviance and related toolsCultivate meaningful partnerships with colleges and universities to expand opportunities for studentsBuild trusting relationships with families through proactive communication (in person, phone, and digital outreach)Teach college exploration classes that inspire curiosity and long-term planningProctor SAT exams and support testing logisticsAssist in managing the department budget and contribute to ongoing program developmentCollaborate with colleagues and contribute to shared departmental and school responsibilities Qualifications and Requirements Required Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorshipBachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Sociology, or a related field3+ years of experience in college counseling, college access, higher education, or a related fieldDemonstrated success working with students from diverse backgrounds in an urban settingStrong relational skills, collaboration mindset, and adaptability in a dynamic environmentWillingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel overnight as neededValid driver's license and clean driving recordCommitment to participating in Ignatian Identity programming, including retreats and intercultural development Preferred Fluency in Spanish (highly preferred)Experience with PowerSchool, Microsoft 365, and college access tools (e.g., Naviance, Scoir)Strong public speaking skills and experience facilitating workshops Professional Growth & Mission Integration We are committed to investing in our educators for the long term.
