The Scheduler performs clerical and communication functions in the department/clinic and serves as the first point of contact for all patients. The role includes scheduling appointments, answering phones, registering new patients, filing, sorting, reviewing new patient referrals and authorizations for proper coding, insurance verification, and other front‑desk responsibilities. Essential Duties Acts as the positive face of the health center, greeting and checking in patients at the front desk. Schedules appointments, confirms patient availability, and accurately reviews appointment date, time, location, and provider name with callers. Acts as an advocate/liaison for patients and the health center and continuum of care as appropriate. Answers telephone calls promptly and with courtesy; directs calls to other departments as needed and uses sound judgment with upset patients. Makes and maintains delegated worklists (tasks) through the electronic medical record. Operates equipment safely and effectively. Handles patient requests and questions appropriately. Provides benefit plan and eligibility information to participants, providers, unions, employers, and others. Adheres to Culinary Health Center and Jayakumar NV PC policies and procedures. Performs duties as a care coordinator when assigned. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Understanding of medical terminology. Ability to interview patients and interface with physicians, nurses, and other professional staff. One (1) year of customer service experience, preferably in a medical environment. Licenses / Certifications Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days and renewed as required. Compensation Hourly rate range: $21.00 – $27.01.
