Location: Oxnard Job Type: Full‑time Position Summary The Director of Nursing will report to the Executive Director/Administrator and is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of home health clinical services. The role includes establishing, implementing, and evaluating goals and objectives that uphold quality standards and align with the organization’s mission and philosophy. Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities Coordinating and overseeing all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical organization personnel. Providing guidance and counseling to coordinators and Clinical Supervisors to assist them in continually improving all aspects of home health care services. Assisting clinical supervisors in managing clinical teams and planning. Assisting the Executive Director/Administrator in preparing and administering the organization’s budget. Interpreting operational indicators to detect census changes that could impact staffing, revenues, or expenses. Assisting clinical supervisors to develop skills and techniques in evaluating the performance of clinicians. Hiring, evaluating, and terminating organization personnel and evaluating the performance of clinical supervisors. Conducting clinician performance evaluations annually, or more frequently if indicated. Overseeing the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for evaluation and reporting of organization activities. Ensuring proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state, and federal laws. Maintaining adequate inventory supplies and equipment for the provision of patient services. Developing, implementing, and evaluating the orientation program for new organization personnel. Planning and implementing in‑service and continuing education programs to meet the education and training needs of organization personnel. Assisting with the evaluation of organization performance via performance‑improvement programs, productivity, quarterly and annual reviews. Assisting in the development of organization goals, administering organization policies and procedures. Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal licenses and certifications of organization personnel and maintaining joint commission home care standards. Ensuring the quality and safe delivery of home health services provided through the organization. Staying informed about changes in the field of nursing and home health care and sharing information with appropriate organization personnel. Promoting home health referrals in the health care community. In the absence of the Executive Director/Administrator, assuming executive authority as the acting Executive Director/Administrator. Performing other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Skills Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional administrative personnel. Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community. Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations, and joint commission standards. Position Qualification Registered nurse with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state. Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program; master’s degree in health care preferred. Three years of management experience in a home health or related health care organization, at least one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity. Home health experience. Licensed driver with an insured, state‑compliant automobile in good working order.
