Overview Director Philanthropy - Mission job at Providence Health & Services. Mission Viejo, CA. THE ROLE The Director of Philanthropy will provide leadership to major gift fundraising programs and initiatives. The director will directly hire and supervise team members responsible for the multi-faceted efforts to promote and enhance current giving, endowment and capital giving from individuals, corporations and foundations to benefit the Ministry. The primary focus is to secure major gifts of $25,000 or more and event initiatives that drive revenue and donor prospects. The position will interact with hospital leadership on the development of giving opportunities and with the Fund Raising Team of the Foundation to develop strategic fundraising priorities and a pipeline of donor prospects. This includes the systematic approach to identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. The director will ensure that the metrics for each component of the fundraising program are met annually, including gifts and net letters of intent in support of priorities. Responsibilities Provides leadership to design a fundraising strategic plan enabling the team to carry out major and capital philanthropic initiatives as identified. Develops and manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and personally solicits gifts from these individuals as outright gifts or pledges of $25,000 over 5 years. Provides leadership and supervision of events that enable the Foundation to achieve philanthropic goals identified by the Ministry. Provides leadership and supervision to the philanthropy manager, coordinator and administrative assistant for all activities around major, planned and events. Works with major gifts coordinators and Planned Giving team to provide support for various philanthropic initiatives identified. Engages with the community to create awareness of the charitable mission of the ministry and its philanthropic goals. Prepares financial and analytical reports on fundraising results and trends as needed. Maintains professional contact with community organizations and other institutions, associations, and organizations that affect development programs in health care settings. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college Master's Degree (preferred) Completion of fundraising training programs (preferred) 8 years of experience in non-profit with major giving experience 5 years of leadership experience, preferably in a larger institution 3 years of senior level fundraising experience in a large complex organization with demonstrated success in closing six-figure gifts 3 years of demonstrated experience in designing and implementing a fundraising strategic plan that met fundraising goals 3 years of experience with a fundraising donor management software program 3 years of experience in managing revenue and expense budgets to meet program objectives 3 years of experience in designing fundraising strategic plans in concert with organizational leadership Verified experience in personally securing major gifts Demonstrated experience with prospect management and donor management systems that developed a major gift prospect pipeline Experience with Health Care Philanthropy (preferred) Experience with Raiser’s Edge Donor Management system (preferred) Advanced interpersonal skills Analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills Excellent skills in communicating persuasively, both orally and in writing Ability to demonstrate a track record of success in securing major gifts Computer literacy in Windows applications Demonstrated knowledge of donor management systems that resulted in development of a major gift prospect pipeline About Providence At Providence, our strength lies in Our Promise of “Know me, care for me, ease my way.” Working at our family of organizations means that regardless of your role, we’ll walk alongside you in your career, supporting you so you can support others.
