Oakland, United States | Posted on 05/29/2026 JOB OVERVIEW Facility: Locums - UCSF Health Benioff Children's Hospital - Oakland Health System: UCSF Health Unit: - CHO Ophthalmology Shift: Days Shift Schedule: 5x8 Monday – Friday, 8a-5p Start Date: Aug 03, 2026 End Date: Feb 01, 2027 Duration: 26 weeks Open Positions: 1 Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: Aug 03, 2026 – Feb 01, 2027 PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Mostly all pediatrics, some adults with developmental delays and double vision Average Daily Volume: 12–14 patients per day Case Mix: Bread and butter and high acuity peds optometry, strabismus/binocular vision FACILITY INFORMATION EMR System: Epic Office Equipment Available: All imaging devices needed Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Temporary Privileges Available: No emergency privileges Credentialing Timeline: 60-90 days REQUIRED PROCEDURES Contact lens fitting Complex contact lens fitting for pediatrics Work ups and patient care Strabismus/binocular vision exams JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: Pediatric optometry residency highly preferred Licenses: CA license required DEA: CA DEA with Schedule 2/2n required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience working with complex pediatric populations in a medical center setting DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Perform comprehensive pediatric optometry examinations and patient care. Conduct work-ups and diagnostic imaging for high acuity pediatric patients. Provide contact lens fitting and complex contact lens fitting for pediatric populations. Co-manage patients with other pediatric specialties, including those with seizures and facial abnormalities.
