The Scheduler performs clerical and communication functions in the department/clinic. She/He schedules patient appointments, provides courteous reception, answers phones, registers new patients, and performs various office duties such as filing and sorting. The Scheduler reviews new patient referrals and authorizations for adequate coding, registers new patients, verifies insurance, and schedules as necessary. She/He works with every physician in the Department/Clinic and serves as the first point of contact for all patients, delivering a consistent superior customer‑service experience in accordance with the Center’s mission and vision. Essential Duties Act as the positive “face” of the Health Center and the main point of contact for participants and families. Support center operations by greeting and checking in patients at the front desk, scheduling appointments, and performing other front‑desk functions. Schedule appointments, confirm patient availability, and review appointment details with callers for accuracy. Act as an advocate/liaison for patients and the Health Center, coordinating continuum of care as appropriate. Answer telephone calls promptly and politely, directing calls to other departments as needed and using sound judgment, especially with upset patients. Maintain all delegated worklists (tasks) through the electronic medical record. Use equipment effectively, efficiently, and safely. Handle patient requests and questions appropriately. Provide benefit plan and eligibility information to participants, providers, unions, employers, and others. Adhere to the Culinary Health Center and Jayakumar NV PC policies and procedures. Perform duties as a care coordinator when assigned. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Understanding of medical terminology. Ability to interview patients and interface with physicians, nurses, and other professional staff. Preferred Qualifications One year working in a customer service role, preferably in a medical environment. Required Licenses / Certifications Fire Life Safety Training (Los Angeles City). If no card is on hand upon hire, certification must be obtained within 30 days and maintained through renewal before expiration.
