Description The Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center (“MSAHC” or the “Center”) provides care and wellness for young people by offering high quality, comprehensive, integrated and confidential services to all who visit the Center or school‑based health facilities, at no cost to them. Job Title: Medical Director – School Based Health CentersGrade: FacultyReports to: Division Chief, Adolescent Medicine, Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center Primary Purpose The School Based Health Center Medical Director oversees the operation of the SBHC program and collaborates with MSAHC Deputy Medical Directors to ensure services are developed, managed, and delivered in accordance with MSAHC’s mission, strategic direction, and business position. The Director directs the medical and mental health staff, ensuring adherence to Mount Sinai policies, New York State regulations, funder guidelines, and best practices in adolescent medicine. Together with Deputy Medical Directors, the Director establishes and implements policies related to medical services within the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center School Based Health Centers. Responsibilities Direct outpatient care at SBHCs and MSAHC and provide inpatient coverage at Mount Sinai. Provide coverage of SBHC physicians and mid‑level practitioners when staff are absent. Collaborate with Deputy Medical Directors to ensure effective, efficient operation of MSAHC SBHCs and integration of interdisciplinary services. Supervise the development, management, and evaluation of the SBHC medical practice, including physicians, mid‑level practitioners, and the SBHC practice manager. Evaluate provider performance at least annually, conduct OPPE semiannually for all clinical staff, and perform informal chart reviews regularly. Work with Deputy Medical Directors to develop and implement changes to medical care protocols in line with adolescent health standards. Implement quality assurance mechanisms and monitor the quality of medical care services. Represent SBHC provider perspectives in program development, policies, procedures, staff development, and address provider concerns. Implement and monitor systems to track timeliness and communication of all MSAHC specialty referrals. Collaborate with MSAHC social work supervisor, research team, Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Program Director, NYC DOH/DOHMH, and health education supervisor to optimize mental health and health education services. Qualifications MD degree with Board Certification in Adolescent Medicine. Minimum of 5 years of combined clinical/administrative experience preferred. Proactive, hands‑on thinker and partner with the MSAHC Medical Director. Working knowledge of managed care and healthcare financing. Keen problem‑solving skills and ability to set priorities and guide investment in people and systems. Compensation Compensation range: $175,000 to $190,000. This does not include bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits and is based on experience, specialty, performance and other factors.
