Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Marshall University – Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine is seeking a visionary and collaborative physician for the position of Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. The Opportunity The Chair oversees all operational and programmatic aspects of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, including clinical, research and educational activities. Responsibilities include strategic planning, management of budgets and resources, recruitment and mentorship of faculty and trainees and advancement of innovative, patient-centered models of care. The Chair promotes excellence in women’s health outcomes, strengthens residency and medical student education and supports scholarly activity through research, grants, publications and regional and national collaboration. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be an obstetrician-gynecologist or OB‑GYN subspecialist with at least five years of experience as a faculty member in academic medicine and demonstrated success in leadership roles that may include faculty and student mentorship, strategic planning, fiscal management, academic recruitment, and organizational development. The candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD or equivalent) degree with board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology or applicable subspecialty and be eligible for medical licensure in West Virginia. Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities associated with rural health and community-based research is helpful. The Organization The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is a comprehensive academic department providing a full spectrum of women’s health services across all stages of life, including general obstetrics and gynecology as well as subspecialty expertise in maternal‑fetal medicine, gynecologic surgery, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology and reproductive health. Faculty and resident physicians provide care at Marshall Health Network – Cabell Huntington Hospital and ambulatory sites across the region. The Location Based in Huntington, West Virginia, Marshall University is located in a tri-state region bordering Kentucky and Ohio.
