Responsibilities Drive overall performance and delivery of on‑time testing services for the global department. Manage the global technical and administrative operations of the assigned scientific discipline (Microbiology, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology, Genomics and Immunology). Provide global leadership to develop Labcorp’s capabilities in the relevant scientific discipline. Initiate and support business development activities. Ensure quality performance of all technical services associated with the assigned discipline. Ensure client satisfaction. Ensure global sites meet regulatory requirements. Meet established quality measures and provide on‑time responses to quality issues (QTM, PT, QCSR, etc.). Serve as the expert and global resource for the assigned discipline. Collaborate with the VP for Global Laboratory Operations in strategic planning for scientific capabilities and capacity needs. Develop and manage global department operational budgets, technology plans, and operational plans related to the strategic plan. Identify capital needs to enhance service delivery. Initiate and champion capital improvements for the global department. Manage new service offerings through the entire process: New Test Feasibility/NSSO committee, method validation, creation of new test codes and database elements. Provide consultative support to the Sales department as required to ensure laboratory capability to deliver on services sold. Participate in client visits, audits and inquiries; ensure complete fulfillment of requests and audit findings. Provide technical consultations, as needed, for internal and external clients. Support Six Sigma and other process improvement initiatives. Ensure timely and efficient global production in accordance with Labcorp quality standards. Develop, monitor, and manage global processes and performance metrics. Ensure resources are sufficient to meet performance and quality goals. Evaluate production and processes to detect adverse patterns and trends. Collaborate with senior management to resolve adverse trends and elevate issues to the Sr. Director and VP of Global Laboratory Operations as necessary. Ensure timely scheduling and execution of all support activities essential to the department’s operation. Ensure on‑time delivery of new test validations to meet client expectations and Labcorp commitments. Facilitate communications between the department, global sites, and other functional areas such as CTMS and Sales. Provide timely and professional communications with client contacts in areas of expertise. Ensure regulatory compliance. Prepare Associate Director to act on behalf of the Global Department Director during absences. Recruit, develop, and evaluate management personnel. Ensure management resources oversee global operations of the department. Develop department volume forecasts. Ensure sufficient trained and competent personnel are available and properly supervised to meet workload requirements and departmental goals. Evaluate senior department management personnel. Support marketing and sales business development efforts by communicating and demonstrating the department’s capabilities through written materials, meetings, and scientific conferences. Ensure client satisfaction through excellent relationship management, testing quality, and timely contractual execution. Minimum Qualifications Five (5) years or more of management experience in a clinical laboratory operations environment. Five (5) years or more of genomics experience. Master’s degree in a science-related field. Preferred Qualifications PhD in a science-related field. Additional Job Standards Fluency in English. Computer literate.
