Department Internal Medicine Mission or Goal of Unit The mission of the Internal Medicine Department, Pulmonary Disease and critical Care Medicine is to provide superior, compassionate, and innovative clinical care to our patients using state‑of‑the‑art knowledge and resources and to conduct and disseminate clinical, research and scholarship, with a focus on the care of patients and education of future clinicians. Chief Purpose of this position The department of Internal Medicine and Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is recruiting for a qualified pulmonary and critical care physician interested in supporting the lung transplant program, while expanding critical care and general pulmonology coverage. Duties & Responsibilities Teaching Provide teaching service to learners, including medical students, interns and residents Use contemporary adult learning methods to promote evidence‑based practice Demonstrate effective teaching skills and continually develop as a teacher for learners at all levels Complete required evaluations of learners in a timely manner –including but not limited to written and verbal feedback Participate in other learning activities such as foundations of clinical medicine, morning report, core conference, and other formal educational programs for undergraduate and post‑graduate learners Service Work with institutional staff and administration to attain the strategic objectives of VCU Medical Center, including patient safety, patient and other customer satisfaction, maintenance and enhancement of public perception, and fiscal health. Serve on institutional committees, study sections, review groups, as a journal editor, or editorial boards Clinical Primary clinical responsibilities will be to provide exemplary care in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, to include support of the lung transplant program, while expanding critical care and general pulmonology coverage. Outpatient Clinic/Outreach: Faculty member will assist with outreach for our general pulmonary and lung transplant programs. Outreach involves expanding the outpatient clinic footprint of VCU Health and bringing in new patients to the Health System. Inpatient Critical Care Support: Faculty member will aid in meeting our growing needs for critical care services and essential as we restructure critical care consultation services including night coverage, procedural and sedation services, staffing of new admissions to the ICU, supporting house‑staff and the Advanced Practice Providers (APP) team thereby increasing critical care capacity. Lung Transplant: Faculty member will aid in the care of pre and post lung transplantation candidates/patients to include pre‑operative assessments and care for those with advanced lung disease, inpatient consultations pre and post transplantation, nocturnal remote lung transplant call coverage, inpatient consultations and “donor call”. Pulmonary Consultation service Minimum Qualifications M.D. or D.O. degree Successful completion of an ACGME‑approved pulmonary and critical care fellowship Board Eligible - American Board of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine Successful completion, or in the process of completing, a dedicated lung transplant fellowship (one year of equivalent) Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU Preferred Qualifications Board Certified - American Board of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine Salary Range Commensurate FLSA Exemption Status Exempt ORP Eligible No Rank Open Contact Information Contact Name: Brent Kimball Contact Email: #J-18808-Ljbffr
