A RARE OPPORTUNITY IN PRIVATE PRACTICEThere are plenty of veterinary positions out there. This one is different. At Western Veterinary Center, we're not looking for someone to fill a seat — we're inviting a talented cardiologist to step into a role where their voice genuinely matters, their ideas shape the practice, and their patients receive the very best care this profession has to offer. WVC is privately owned and clinician-led. Every decision made here is made by actively practicing DVMs who understand what it means to be in the trenches alongside you. There is no corporate layer, no distant board, no one-size-fits-all policy handed down from above. You will work hand-in-hand with the people who own this practice — people who share your commitment to medicine, your respect for the human-animal bond, and your belief that veterinary medicine can and should be practiced sustainably and joyfully. We've built a foundation for excellence in cardiac care with a part-time visiting cardiologist, and now we're ready to invest in a full-time leader who can expand our capabilities, deepen clinical depth, and establish cardiology as a true specialty pillar alongside our ECC, Surgery, and emerging Internal Medicine departments. We want the right person to help define what that looks like. That's not a burden — it's an invitation. You'll have the autonomy to shape your caseload, establish diagnostic and interventional protocols, and build referral relationships in a community that genuinely needs and values specialty cardiac care. And you won't be doing it alone. YOUR FUTURE COLLEAGUES One of the most important things we can tell you about WVC is who you'll be working alongside. Our team is small enough to feel like family, and experienced enough to truly elevate your practice. Currently on staff: Two board-certified Criticalists with deep ECC expertise and a genuine love of collaborative medicine, and acute cardiovascular cases are a daily reality in our ECC A surgeon with a strong surgical caseload and a collaborative approach to complex case management, including pre-operative cardiac clearances and risk stratification A board-certified internist (newly hired) providing specialized internal medicine consultation for cardiac-adjacent cases and chronic disease management A nutritionist joining our team soon, rounding out our internal specialist suppot, and creating meaningful collaboration on cardiac diet management This team doesn't operate in silos. Curbside consults, collaborative case discussions, and cross-specialty problem solving are part of daily life at WVC. You'll have the autonomy to run your service your way, with a team around you that makes the work richer, not harder. A COMMUNITY READY FOR CARDIAC CARE Agoura Hills sits at the heart of a thriving pet-owning community in the greater Los Angeles and Ventura County area, an area that is actively seeking accessible, high-quality specialty cardiac care. Your referral base will develop organically from multiple strong sources: In-house referrals from our ECC and Surgery departments, acute decompensations, pericardial effusions, perioperative cardiac management, and complex cases already walking through our doors A strong internal medicine program, creating natural collaboration on hypertensive cases, renal disease with secondary cardiac involvement, and endocrine-related arrhythmias Established and growing relationships with local GP practices in the region, primary care providers actively seeking reliable specialty consultation A community of pet owners who are engaged, educated, and invested in their animals' health, clients who understand and value preventive cardiac screening, risk stratification, and advanced diagnostics This is an opportunity to build something meaningful in a region where you can make a real difference, and to do so with the full infrastructure of a modern specialty hospital supporting you from day one. THE HOSPITAL Our 15,000 sq ft facility was purpose-built for specialty medicine. You will not be working around limitations, you will be working with the tools you actually need: 5 state-of-the-art surgical suites, with comprehensive cardiac monitoring and support for complex cardiothoracic cases 12 treatment stations with dedicated intensive care capacity for acute cardiac monitoring In-house echocardiography (GE ultrasound), digital radiography, endoscopy suite, and arthroscopy CT imaging for comprehensive cardiac assessment, pulmonary hypertension evaluation, and surgical planning MRI coming soon, opening doors for tissue characterization and advanced imaging protocols Equipped for advanced interventional procedures, including tracheal and urethral stenting Dedicated consult rooms designed for meaningful client conversations about complex diagnoses and long‑term care planning OUR PHILOSOPHY OF CARE At WVC, we believe the client is part of the care team. Our clients aren't obstacles to good medicine, they are partners in it. We look for team members who understand that clear, compassionate communication with pet owners isn't separate from excellent clinical care; it is excellent clinical care. The cardiologist who thrives here will be someone who finds meaning in those conversations, who can translate complex diagnoses like dilated cardiomyopathy, degenerative valve disease, and arrhythmias into something a worried pet owner can hold onto, and who understands that a client who feels truly heard is a client whose pet gets better outcomes. Veterinary medicine is a team sport. The most skilled clinician in the world does their best work when they are surrounded by people they trust, supported by staff who are well-trained and motivated, and operating within a culture where no one is too proud to ask for help. That's the culture we've built. That's the culture we invite you to join. READY TO LEAD AND GROW CARDIAC CARE? If you are a compassionate, team-oriented cardiologist who is energized by the idea of establishing and growing a robust cardiac specialty in a privately owned, clinician-led practice; we would love to hear from you. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS DACVIM (Cardiology) - board certified preferred; board eligible candidates actively welcomed Active California veterinary license in good standing (or ability to obtain prior to start date) No history of malpractice or disciplinary actions 5+ years of clinical experience preferred; we value depth of skill and diagnostic acumen over years on paper Proficiency with echocardiography and advanced cardiac imaging (or strong commitment to developing/deepening these skills) Genuine enthusiasm for client communication and team-based medicine A collaborative spirit; you do your best work as part of something bigger than yourself #J-18808-Ljbffr
