Job Summary This role acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The position delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members, maintains accountability for quality patient outcomes, and promotes unit and departmental strategic goals. Education Required – Registered nurse diploma. Preferred – Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing. Work Experience Required – None. Certifications Required – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Required – Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred – Certification in a clinical specialty area. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Good organizational and time‑management skills and ability to be self‑directed. Ability to demonstrate good judgement. Good interpersonal skills. Job Duties Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patients, families, and other disciplines. Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes. Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and promote improvement in the profession of nursing. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, appropriate introductions, and adapting explanations of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and tailoring communication style. The role is performed in a patient‐care area where exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste may occur.
