JOB SUMMARY The General Toxicology Associate Scientist will be a crucial member of the General Toxicology group, operating within an AAALAC-accredited, GLP-compliant facility. This role is responsible for the comprehensive execution of rodent toxicology studies, from protocol review through in-life data collection. The Associate Scientist will also be responsible for addressing Quality Assurance audit findings and generating reports in strict adherence to established guidelines, protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Key Responsibilities Provide humane care and careful handling/restraint of laboratory rodents. Administer test substances to animals via various routes (e.g., diet, gavage, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous). Collect body weight, food consumption data, hold animals for eye exams, perform other measurements, and collect biological samples as needed. Collect blood (tail vein) and urine samples, conduct clinical observations, and perform other in-life study functions. Collect, record, document, and report results with a high degree of accuracy, precision, and timeliness. Maintain study data and related information in study files. Communicate effectively with Study Directors, peers, supervisors, and the attending veterinarian. Understand and follow all relevant protocols, SOPs, GLPs, and safety guidelines. Learn and refine new laboratory skills and techniques. Assist other technicians and complete other assigned tasks. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in animal science, biology, or a related science field. Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant laboratory experience, including rodent animal handling and basic science skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn other software/validated systems. Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Ability to work safely under specific time constraints, prioritize workload, use time productively, and work well independently or in a team setting. Ability to lift, move, manipulate, and/or hold heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform procedures requiring talking, hearing, standing, or sitting for long periods. Ability to enter data into computer databases, use appropriate instruments, reach with hands and arms, work in narrow spaces, and wear personal safety equipment (PPE). Ability to frequently hold rodent species firmly while utilizing fine motor skills. Medical Clearance for N95 respirator use, including a Fit Test and Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), must be completed prior to start. Must be able to shower and have a complete change of clothing prior to entering the animal vivarium if they have: visited another animal facility on the same day, had contact with companion-/pet-/wild-rodents, or had contact with snakes/reptiles/birds of prey that are fed rodents. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Provantis Integrated Preclinical Software. Experience in a GLP laboratory environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
