Job Overview This RN position utilizes the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity; maintains involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and departmental strategic goals; and demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for their practice. Education Registered Nurse Diploma – Required Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing – Preferred Experience None – Required Certifications Current RN License in the state of practice – Required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association – Required Certification in clinical specialty area – Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages, and keyboard. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Good organizational and time‑management skills; self‑directed. Good judgement and interpersonal skills. Job Duties Effectively use the Nursing Process in patient care delivery. Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and interdisciplinary groups. Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal); serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Utilize data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes. Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale. Physical and Environmental Demands Heavy work: 50‑100 lb force occasionally, 25‑50 lb force frequently, 10‑20 lb force constantly to move objects; requires standing, walking, pushing/pulling; exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and communicable diseases.
