Overview Under the direction of a health care provider, the Clinical Nurse RN is responsible for delivering patient care that promotes the safety and well‑being of our patients. Responsibilities Assist provider and other clinical staff with obtaining basic vital information and preparing patients for examination, treatment, and minor surgical procedures. Demonstrate competency in the clinical skills necessary to carry out assigned job duties. Draw and collect blood and other samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Apply the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) within licensure guidelines. Provide telephone triage by advising on home care for illnesses or conditions and conducting follow‑up calls regarding patients’ health and progress. Administer vaccines and ordered medications via oral, IM, SQ, or ID routes. Place urinary catheters and IVs per protocol and license. Schedule referrals for patients to specialists or outpatient services as requested by the provider. Complete appropriate forms or requisitions needed for referrals or lab testing, including CPT/ICD‑9 or CPT/ICD‑10 coding. Understand inpatient and outpatient specialty procedures and ensure compliance with precertification requirements. Track follow‑up appointments related to office visits, laboratory tests, and procedures, and regularly monitor patients’ disease status. Provide appropriate and timely documentation in the patient’s electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes. Supervise delegated duties to LPNs and CMAs on approved clinical protocols. Attend clinic and department meetings, read emails, and regularly check the organization’s intranet for updates. Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines, HIPAA, and other policies and procedures. Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work. Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service by exceeding expectations. Provide education to patients and families using the Teach‑back method per protocols and guidelines. Balance team and individual responsibilities, remain open to others’ views, give and welcome feedback, and contribute to positive team goals. Perform other duties as requested by the Clinic Administrator to facilitate smooth and effective office operations. Qualifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days from the American Heart Association (AHA). Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Illinois by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). College diploma in Nursing. Relevant work experience in a clinical nursing environment. Salary Range The compensation range for this position is $30.39 per hour – $52.27 per hour.
